How I Can Help You

I'm Dr Simon Davey, a digital transformation consultant. I'm here to help clarify and resolve your digital, data, operational and innovation issues, one step at a time.

Whether it's a full scale digital (or organisational) transformation, a 'project' or an urgent need for support, capacity or digital 'tweak', I can offer advice, support and where necessary, roll my sleeves up and dive in. (And bring in expert colleagues where needed.)

I focus on (quickly and clearly) understanding the real issue and challenge and identifying the opportunity, benefits and outcomes which can be achieved and get it done. I work with senior leaders (primarily Chief Execs, COOs, Finance Directors) and managers, offering support, headspace, reflection and an independent perspective (and the all important delivering results).

Direction - Roadmap - Reassurance - Sustainability

We start from strategy, look to understand culture and people, co-design outcomes, processes and tools, identify where digital, technology and data can make a meaningful contribution and provide holistic and supportive change leadership and accountability to organisations (and individuals) working under challenging circumstances.

I deliver the all important 'quick wins' (quickly) because I know timing matters.

It's about how we can help everyone to do things better and do better things.

 KEY AREAS OF EXPERTISE

"Wisdom is to know what can be made better and make it better and to recognise what can only be made worse and walk away."

  1. Making unnecessary change requests go away (stop people asking for more, or complaining, by being clear what they really need and fixing the important stuff including processes)
  2. Building a system where you can 'actually find stuff' (shared drive and Sharepoint projects a speciality)
  3. Clarifying what your database is for and making it work for you not against you
  4. Developing (scoping), implementing and sustaining projects (or getting broken projects back on track)
  5. Demystifying data protection, information security and compliance, through policies, practical tools and training
  6. Finding and recruiting suppliers and staff so you have the right support (from tech support agencies to consultants and IT/data managers and administrators)
  7. Helping you stay on the right track through strategy and excellent projects

Taming digital and data and operations so you can do your job, your organisation can deliver its objectives, and everyone can breathe a little easier. Because it's more than digital - it's the heart of everything you do and who you do it with.

Reach out and take a deep breath. We've got this.

A FEW EXAMPLES OF HOW I MIGHT BE ABLE TO HELP

  • Working out what the underlying problem is and what we need to tackle first - from a chat to a review project
  • Project and programme management - from short term project initiation and planning to extensive programme management
  • Change management - support developing (and implementing) change plans, role of a critical friend, keeping accountability to objectives and intentions
  • ICT/digital reviews, strategies and development plans - from simple IT audits to full scale reviews of technology, communication and tools; development of strategy and practical actionable plans that deliver results
  • Business analysis - taking an independent and in depth look at what you do and how you do it and consulting/advising on operating models and process/service design
  • Scoping projects and requirements analysis for digital products, databases and websites - taking an idea from concept through design and user research to specification and support engaging suppliers and developers
  • Data strategies - how to make the most of your data (and stop it tripping you up or making you non compliant)
  • Developing toolkits, systems and processes - we've been there, seen it and visited the other expert sources and have lots to share and signpost. We can bring that expertise and experience to bear in helping you develop toolkits and systems that just make your lives easier and service better.
  • Organisational development - as narrow or broad as you like. An independent perspective and support to help your organisation increase effectiveness and improve your team cultures.
  • Project catalysis - kick starting what needs to be kick started

WHERE IT STARTS

"Everything is contextual, everything is changing, action depends on timing."

Every project and relationship starts with a conversation. It's about building an initial understanding and trust and knowing what needs to be done.

So we start every 'assignment' with a chat. If you have a challenge and want to talk it over, please get in touch - we offer a no obligation (and no cost) initial call of up to an hour (and longer if necessary). We really do want to understand and help so do reach out.

The next stage is usually a 'discovery' phase. This could be one, two or a few days, trying to understand the true nature of the problem and what needs to be done. This might then lead to a more detailed 'scoping or review and planning' phase (anywhere from a few days to 25 days for more significant change projects).

But plans need action and I can support this too. Advice, coaching or just general support or project management. There isn't much I haven't seen and there's lots we can share from other experts and trusted colleagues as well as my own 25 years experience in consulting.

But it all starts with a conversation so please reach out - you can find our full contact details on the Contact Me page.
